At the end of an interview, most candidates ask “what’s the next step?” That’s a great question, but if you’re really interested, why wouldn’t you ask for the job?

“Dave, thank you so much for your time today. I have to tell you I’m so excited about your opportunity and I would love if you would consider me the successful candidate.”

Now that’s something to think about.

It’s OK to ask for the job. Don’t worry that it sounds too forceful, if you use a sincere tone, it won’t be. Asking for the job at the end of an interview shows you are really engaged and want to work for THEM.

Employers want to be loved. They want to know that you aren’t just looking for any job, but this job. So if you really want it, ask for it!
