Is there something you’ve always meant to do, wanted to do, but just … haven’t?

We’re halfway through the year and for us here at TempsAhead, it means taking stock and tackling the second half of 2013 with even more gusto!

To kick off July, the whole Headhunters and TempsAhead recruitment teams have taken on a 30 Day Challenge. Our inspiration comes from this TED Talk by Matt Cutts, which challenges people to think about goal-setting in a new way and develop new habits. Because as Matt says in the talk “the next 30 days are going to pass whether you like it or not, so why not think about something you have always wanted to try and give it a shot for the next 30 days?”

It’s not about creating huge overwhelming obstacles, but small manageable modifications.

We’ve committed to personal goals like having a stretch every morning, cutting out sugar and making one random person smile every day. And we’ve also set professional goals like writing day plans, making extra connections and having a zero inbox each day.

So, we challenge you to take on your own 30 Day Challenge and you’ll be surprised what happens in just one month.

As a job seeker, this could be applying to one job a day, reaching out to one contact in your network to ask for an introduction or informational interview. It might also mean things like introducing yourself to one new person a day or thanking someone on social media for sharing/writing something interesting.

Job hunting can be tough. So why not break it down into smaller chunks that don’t wear you out. Make connections, reach out to those around you, and we promise you’ll be so glad that you did.
